‘Mortal Kombat’ Sequel In The Works: Report

“Mortal Kombat” is an action film released on April 23, 2021. The movie is based on the popular fighting game series of the same name created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

According to a report by HollywoodReporter, production company New Line has started work on the sequel of the film. The company has also appointed Jeremy Slater as the screenwriter for the sequel. Another project that Slater has worked on is the upcoming “Moon Knight” Disney+ series.

What Will The ‘Mortal Kombat’ Sequel Be About?

The last film ended with all the outer world champions defeating earth’s warriors along with Sub Zero. As Shang Tsung is banished by Raiden he vows revenge. After that Raiden prepares to train new warriors for the next tournament and sends the current champions to look for them. Also, it is hinted that Cole will recruit a popular character from the games, Johnny Cage, as well.

Although the sequel was set up, it is still no surprise that this action film is receiving a new installment. As it earned a solid $83.6 million in the box office. Also, while HBO Max does not disclose viewership, they have stated that the film was one of its top feature films of the year.
